Buy my next car

Finance for your next vehicle, with repayments timed to your payday. A mostly online application, clear terms, and no surprises later.

What it covers.

Buying your next car is a big call. The best finance decisions happen when you know exactly what you're paying, what you're paying it to, and how long for.

Movogo Finance lends to New Zealanders through personal loans secured on a vehicle. If you're buying your next car, this loan could be for you. The application is mostly online and takes about ten minutes. We look at your credit history, income, and expenses to work out what you can comfortably afford, and we make an offer that fits. If we can't lend to you or the loan wouldn't be affordable, we'll tell you straight away.

Your repayments are set at a cadence that matches your payday, so the money goes out when it lands. Once your loan is approved, you can add optional loan products from Movogo to protect your repayments or add flexibility if life throws a curveball.

How it works.

  1. Start your application.
Tell us about yourself, your finances, and the car you're looking at (or apply first and find the car later). About ten minutes online, or give us a call.
  2. We assess your application.
We check your credit history, verify your income and living expenses, and run a responsible lending and affordability assessment. This makes sure the loan is suitable for your situation, not just something you could technically borrow.
  3. Review your loan offer and disclosure.
If we can help, we'll send you a loan offer with the amount, term, interest rate, fees, and a disclosure document. Take your time reading it. Ask us anything. You're under no obligation at this point.
  4. Sign and drive.
Once you've signed and we've verified the vehicle, the funds are on their way. Your first repayment starts on the next payday that suits your chosen cadence.

Questions people ask.

What do I need to apply?

New Zealand residency, valid photo ID, income details, and basic information about your living expenses and existing debts. If you've already found the car, details of that help too (but you can also apply first and find the car afterwards). Depending on your application we may need some extra information, and if so we'll be in touch.

How much could I borrow?

It depends on your income, expenses, existing debts, and credit profile. Our responsible lending assessment looks at what you can comfortably afford, not just what you could technically borrow. The calculator above gives you an indicative feel for the numbers, but the actual amount is confirmed in your loan offer after assessment.

What interest rate will I pay?

Your rate is determined by your credit assessment and the specifics of your loan (amount, term, vehicle). We don't publish a single rate because it would be misleading. Once we've assessed your application, we'll confirm your rate in your loan offer. You're under no obligation to accept it.

How long does approval take?

Most applications are assessed within a business day. Some need additional information or a manual review, which can take a bit longer. We'll keep you updated throughout.

What cars can I finance?

Most cars, utes, vans, and light commercial vehicles from registered dealers or private sellers. We'll check that the vehicle is suitable to secure the loan (generally a reasonable age and condition, with clear ownership). We'll walk through any specifics when you tell us about the vehicle.

What fees will I pay?

Establishment, monthly account, and early repayment fees may apply. See the finance information page for our latest list of fees. All fees are itemised in your loan disclosure document before you sign, so you know exactly what you're paying.

What happens if I miss a payment?

Late payment fees or default interest may apply, and missed payments can affect your credit record. If you think you'll struggle with a payment, get in touch as soon as you can. We'll work with you to get back on track, and the sooner we know, the more options we have to help. Financial hardship protections are available under NZ law and we'll walk through them with you if they apply.

Can I change my payment day?

Yes. If your payday changes or you'd like a different cadence (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly), let us know and we'll shift your repayment schedule. A variation fee may apply. See the finance information page for the full list of fees.
