Keep your rego sorted. We issue the voucher, redeem it with NZTA at the right time, and spread the cost across your regular payments.
Your vehicle licence (officially its own thing, but most people just call it rego) is what lets you legally drive your car on New Zealand roads. The expiry date sits on a small label stuck to your windscreen, facing outwards on the passenger side. Easy to forget, until there's a fine tucked under your wipers.
Movogo takes care of it for you. We issue you a rego voucher for the term you've chosen (3, 6, or 12 months) and redeem it with NZ Transport Agency on your behalf about two weeks before your current rego expires. NZTA then posts your new vehicle licence label directly to you. The cost is spread evenly across your regular Movogo payments, so nothing lands as a lump sum.
Just one less letter from NZTA on the kitchen bench.

Movogo issues your rego voucher and redeems it with NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) on your behalf. NZTA then posts your new vehicle licence label directly to you. You never need to deal with the NZTA portal, renewal forms, or a trip to the Post Office.
About two weeks before your current rego expires. NZTA then posts your new vehicle licence label directly to you, so it arrives in time. You'll get an email from us the moment the voucher is redeemed.
Your contribution is sized so each rego voucher is fully funded by the time it's redeemed. Two things affect it: the term you choose (3, 6, or 12 months) and how close your next rego is when you sign up. Longer terms mean a lower weekly amount. Shorter terms, or a near-due rego at signup, mean a higher weekly initially. After the first cycle, your amount settles into a steady rate. We confirm your exact figure when you sign up.
No. Rego and RUC are separate. If you drive a diesel, electric, or plug-in hybrid vehicle, you'll also need to add Road User Charges to your plan.
Yes. NZTA offers vehicle licensing for 3, 6, or 12 months at a time. Six months is the most common choice. Let us know your preference when you sign up and we'll match it. You can switch terms later if your situation changes.
You can put your rego on hold via NZTA (it's called "exemption from continuous licensing"). Let us know and we'll pause your Movogo Registration product until the vehicle's back in use. You only start contributing again when the rego is reactivated.
When you sell, the vehicle licence transfers to the new owner's name via NZTA. Let us know and we can carry any unused contribution across to your next car, or you can cancel your plan (cancellation fees may apply).
