Roadside Assistance

Help on the end of a phone call, 24/7. Jumpstarts, lockouts, tows, and more. One monthly voucher, auto-redeemed with NZRA.

What it covers.

A flat battery on Monday morning. Locked out on a weekend away. A blowout on a deserted stretch of road. Movogo's Roadside Assistance puts a trained human on the end of a phone call, 24/7 anywhere in New Zealand.

We partner with NZRA (New Zealand Roadside Assistance). Pick a cover level at signup (Basic or Premium), and we issue a voucher each month that's automatically redeemed against your plan. Your cover is always active. When you need help, you dial the NZRA number and they dispatch someone to wherever you are.

No callout fees for the things your cover includes. Just dial the number and get going again.

How it works.

  1. Pick your cover.
Choose Basic or Premium when you add Roadside to your Movogo plan. You can switch later if your driving pattern changes.
  2. We issue a monthly voucher.
Each month we issue a voucher and auto-redeem it with NZRA on your behalf. Your cover is always live.
  3. Call NZRA when you need them.
You'll get a phone number and membership ID when you sign up. Call any time, day or night, from anywhere in New Zealand. Don't have the membership ID handy? Quote your rego and they'll find you. An NZRA operator dispatches an accredited contractor to your location.
  4. You pay a flat rate across your payments.
Your regular contribution is sized to cover the monthly voucher. Basic is cheaper, Premium adds the away-from-home benefits. We confirm your exact figure when you sign up.

Who we work with.

Movogo partners with NZRA (New Zealand Roadside Assistance). When you call, you're talking to NZRA's 24/7 operations centre, and they dispatch accredited contractors anywhere in New Zealand.

What's covered, what's not.

Not included

  • Assistance after incorrect fuelling (like diesel in a petrol vehicle).
  • Locksmith services for lost, stolen, or damaged keys or locks.
  • Tyre repairs or replacements (separate from fitting your existing spare).
  • Towing beyond the nearest safe place or repairer.
  • Towing for oversized vehicles (over 3,500 kg or 5 metres).
  • Heavy salvage equipment if required.
  • Accident coordination: recovery, transport, accommodation, rentals, and help for bogged or stuck vehicles.

Questions people ask.

Should I pick Basic or Premium?

Basic covers you for the common stuff: flat batteries, flat tyres, locked keys, running out of petrol, tows to the nearest repairer. Premium adds benefits for when you break down a long way from home and the repair takes more than a day (rental car or accommodation, plus a taxi contribution). If you mostly drive around town, Basic is usually enough. If you do long-distance or regional driving, Premium is worth the extra.

What counts as "100 km from home" for Premium?

Premium's accommodation, rental car, and taxi benefits apply if your breakdown is more than 100 km from the registered home address on your Movogo plan, and the repair can't be completed within 24 hours. It's designed to cover you when you're stuck a long way from home.

What if my battery needs replacing?

Basic and Premium both cover a jumpstart, so you can usually get going and home. Actually replacing the battery (parts and labour) is at your own expense. If you'd rather budget for things like this, adding Servicing & Repairs to your plan builds a buffer for parts and repairs at your chosen garage.

What if I've locked my keys in the car?

Covered. NZRA will help you access your vehicle with your authorisation. If the key retrieval causes any damage, NZRA isn't liable, but most situations are resolved without incident. Locksmith services for lost, stolen, or damaged keys are separate and at your expense.

Can I call multiple times in a year?

Yes. Both Basic and Premium come with unlimited callouts per year.

What if I have an accident?

Accident coordination (recovery, transport, accommodation, rentals, assistance for bogged or stuck vehicles) is at your own expense. Your insurance policy is usually the right place for accident support. NZRA can help you figure out what to do, but the paid-for cover kicks in for breakdowns, not collisions.

How do I actually call for help?

You'll get an NZRA phone number and membership ID when you sign up. Call any time, 24/7, and an operator will dispatch a contractor to your location anywhere in New Zealand. If you don't have your membership ID to hand when you call, quote your rego instead and they'll find you.

What if I sell the car?

Roadside Assistance is tied to your vehicle. When you sell, let us know what you're moving to. You can swap the vehicle in your Movogo plan and associate Roadside with your new car. Or you can cancel your plan.
